Artist Statement
My practice investigates the relationship between material process and perception. Through repeated acts of layering, scraping, concealing, and revealing, each painting evolves as an open-ended exploration rather than a predetermined image. I work intuitively, responding to what emerges on the surface and allowing the painting to guide its own development.
The resulting works explore themes of memory, emotional resonance, and the instability of perception. Fragments of structure appear and dissolve, creating spaces that feel simultaneously familiar and unresolved. Colour, transparency, and movement act as both formal and conceptual devices, reflecting the complexity and uncertainty of lived experience.
